Q: Is it God's will that I prosper?

A: Yes! III John 2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Right here it is - spelled out plain and clear. God's will is for you to be successful in every realm of life and to be in health. Think about it. When someone asks you, "How are you doing?" your response should be, "I'm successful and in health."

Proverbs 13:22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

Our Heavenly Father wants us to have more than enough. Enough so that we will be able to leave an inheritance to our children's children.

It's not wrong to desire and work for things. Matthew 6:31 says, "Therefore, take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, what shall we drink? or, wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

From the birth to the grave, what is it the people of the world spend their lives seeking? The very "things" that Jesus said we were not to give top priority to: "What shall we eat? What shall we drink? How will we be clothed? In America that list today would include, "What kind of car are we going to drive? How will we afford to educate our children? How much of a house can we afford?" The list is endless...yes?

The point for the true believer is this: Our life is not about "things". Our life is about Jesus! The secret that the devil does not want the children of God to learn is: If we put the Kingdom of God FIRST place in our lives...ALL THESE THINGS (the very same things the people of the world waste their lives seeking after) SHALL BE ADDED UNTO US! We have it on no less authority than Jesus Christ the Righteous HIMSELF! He cannot lie.

Let me restate the promise in just a little different format to impact your understanding. Jesus is saying, "The promise of the Father is this; if you will put FIRST place the seeking after His plans and purposes for your life, the Father will personally take over responsibility for providing all your THINGS. After all, He knows you have need of them."

The question to us is, "How will we live, by which system?" The world says strive after things! God says seek me first, and all these things will be added to you! You will find that this process of "seeking God first" will require the development of a "living relationship" between yourself and the Lord.
Is it wrong to work? God forbid! The New Testament abounds with exhortations for the believer to be productively employed.

II Thess. 3:10-12 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

And also in Eph. 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more; but rather let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

But our focus is never to be on "things." That's just not what our lives are to be about. Our lives are about serving Him who bought us.
Remember this; true success is to fulfill God's plan and purpose for your life.
